According to information that first came to my attention at SondraK.com, I suppose it should come as no surprise that the owner of The Atlantic – “Katherine Brittain Bradley … on record in one instance for $28,500.00 to committees supporting Barack Obama” — was hoping for an unflattering portrait of John McCain for the magazine’s cover. Jill Greenberg obliged and, as a bonus displayed her lack of professionalism and integrity by taking the cover shot that so that it “left his eyes red and his skin looking bad.” [Source]
For a deeper view into what the twisted sick soul of Jill Greenberg considers “her artwork,” take a look at Out-Takes: Behind The Atlantic’s McCain Cover.

Despite statements to the contrary from The Atlantic’s PR department, the fact that the magazine chose to highlight a banner in red that includes the words “porn” and “adultery” to the upper left of John McCain’s (supposedly heroic) portrait shows the same style of media manipulation attempted by US magazine when they chose to include “lies” in the headline of their cover article about Sarah Palin. The AmericanDigest.com article includes a link to the photographer’s Web site for those whose curiosity is such that you’re inclined to give her more page view traffic. (I chose to allow the disgusting images on AmericanDigest.com more than suffice as any proof I needed.)
I agree with AmericanDigest.com’s advice not to bother to write to the editors of The Atlantic. Instead write to their advertisers and Jill Greenberg’s commercial clients; AmericanDigest.com shows a list of the clients Greenberg lists on her site.
